The Australasian Urological Foundation (AUF) was established in 1994 by the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (formerly the Urological Society of Australasia). The Foundation's main activity is the provision of research funds, through a grants program, to encourage urological research projects carried out by members of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand. The Foundation also supports programs within the medical profession as well as public awareness campaigns, such as prostate cancer awareness.

The Foundation receives no government funding and relies on donations from corporate and individual supporters. The Foundation operates on minimal administration costs, instead using its funds solely for the purposes of the grants program.
The Foundation's grant program provides funds to encourage and facilitate research in clinical Urology or in basic science as it applies to the practice of Urology, at a recognised research institution or teaching hospital in Australia or New Zealand.

When is the deadline for close of applications? Applications must be received, electronically, by the published closing date of 30 June each year. Late applications will NOT be accepted |
When will successful applicants be advised? Applications will be considered by the Scientific Advisory Committee and ratified by the Board of the Foundation at its meeting in August each year. Successful applicants will be notified immediately following this meeting.

Do I need to include referees with my application? Yes, all applications must include names and contact details of 3 referees. It is the applicants' responsibility to ensure referees' contact details are correct.

What is the Intellectual Property Agreement? A condition of receiving a grant from the Foundation is that the recipient and/or their employer signs the intellectual property agreement provided by the Australasian Urological Foundation which protects the Foundation's interests in the event that there is commercial exploitation of any intellectual property arising from the project. The Foundation will not enter into negotiations on the terms of this agreement.

The Bruce Pearson Fellowship Grant: This Fellowship provides up to $100,000, to encourage and facilitate research in clinical Urology or in basic science as it applies to the practice of Urology, at a recognised research institution or teaching hospital in Australia or New Zealand. In the awarding of this Fellowship, preference will be given to applicants who are Urologists. This grant is funded by the Australasian Urological Foundation. | 3 x Research Grants: Three research grants are available each year, for tenure commencing the following year. These grants are for up to $30,000 each and are jointly funded by the Australasian Urological Foundation (AUF) and our generous sponsors.
| 4 x Travel Grants: The Australasian Urological Foundation (AUF) Travel Grant for International Preceptorships in Laparoscopic Urology (IPLU), is awarded to two urologists, for tenure in March and October each year, for a period of one month. The grants are intended to cover course fees, travel and accommodation. All urologists and urology trainees who are members of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand are invited to apply. The purpose of the grant is to enable the recipient to take up anInternational Preceptorship in Laparoscopic Urology (IPLU), which the Foundation has arranged with Professor Inderbir Gill at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
