The Selection Regulations relating to acceptable alternatives to an ICU term were updated on 17 November 2016 as outlined below:

The following rotations will be considered acceptable alternatives to an ICU term:
a)    ICU/HDU
b)   Cardiothoracics (at resident or registrar level)
c)    Critical Care
d)   Anaesthetics
e)   Trauma
In 2018 (for the 2019 intake), the following terms WILL NOT be considered acceptable alternatives to an ICU term:
a) Trauma
b) Cardiothoracics (at resident level)

Selection Timetable

The timelines for the nSET Program in Urology selection process for the 2018 intake, to be conducted during 2017 are provided for the information of potential applicants.


The eligibility criteria are subject to change on an annual basis. The College has generic eligibility criteria which all applicants to any SET Program must satisfy. In addition to the generic eligibility criteria applicants to the nSET Program in Urology must also satisfy the specialty specific eligibility criteria.


Doctors intending to apply for selection into the Surgical Education and Training Program must register via the College website. Doctors not registered cannot lodge an application. Refer to the College Registration for Selection into Surgical Education and Training Policy for further details.

Application Process

The application process for those registered opens early March 2017. During this time registered applicants who are eligible will have access to the online application form from the USANZ website. Late applications are not considered.
