Submission to the Queensland Parliament Health and Environment Committee
USANZ has supported a RACS submission to the Queensland Parliament Health and Environment Committee inquiry into the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Surgeons) Amendment Bill 2023.
The HPRNL (Surgeons) Amendment Bill 2023 relates to the protection of the title 'surgeon'. USANZ, RACS and a number of other groups have been advocating for the regulation of the title 'surgeon' within the medical profession.
USANZ Members can access the Program for the Public Hearing which will take place from 9:00am to 12:10pm on Monday 22 May 2023. The hearing will also be available to watch live on Parliament TV. The submission from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons will commence at 9:00am, with the submission being made by RACS Vice-President, Professor Owen Ung, and Chair, Health Policy & Advocacy, Professor Mark Frydenberg.
There has been ongoing advocacy work related to the protection of the title 'surgeon', as announced in previous editions of UroNews.
