Our Management Team

The Management Team's role is to implement the Board's strategic direction, with specific responsibilities to:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Society
  • Maintain governance and compliance standards with regulatory bodies
  • Develop short-term strategies that assist in achieving our long-term goals
  • Implement the Surgical Educational Training (SET) Program
  • Produce and administer the Annual Scientific Meeting and other educational meetings for the Membership
  • Capitalise on opportunities to educate the public on urological issues via the media and associated communications channels.
  • Build on our organisation's identity and brand equity.

The Management Team is based at the USANZ Office.

Michael Nugara
Michael is responsible for the overall management and performance of USANZ as well as managing the Society’s strategic relationships with several international urological organisations as well as the Australasian Society of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeons. Michael is also responsible for steering the organisation to meet its strategic objectives including enhancements to education, brand development, financial stability, promotion of research and dissemination of information to the community. Michael has had a career in regulatory compliance management, financial reporting and operations management in the manufacturing, education and energy sectors. 

Madeleine Bennison
Madeleine provides advice and assistance to the Chief Executive on governance and policy matters, supports the USANZ Board and members. Madeleine brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to USANZ in the areas of policy development, support to Boards and Committees, database management and project management in both the government and non government sectors.

Nick Danes
Nick has more than 25 years’ experience as an audit and risk management and compliance professional within the demanding financial services and banking industry. He was responsible for providing the principle and guidance for designing, developing and coordinating the implementation of risk and compliance frameworks within the business. During his time in audit he was responsible for planning and conduct of audits within Institutional Banking (Financial Markets, Corporate and Premium Banking), Retail and Business Banking, Financial Services and Wealth Management.
Nick works for the Society on a part-time capacity of approx 0.2 FTE.

Jennifer Hislop
Jennifer Hislop supports the Education and Training Manager in admininstering the Surgical Education and Training Program in Urology. She organises education sessions and an annual conference for trainees and assists with the selection, training post allocation and hospital inspection processes.

Deborah Klein
Deborah Klein manages the Surgical Education and Training Program in Urology. She supports the Board of Urology, coordinates the selection process, administers the training program and the hospital inspection process. Deborah also organises Trainee Week and a range of seminars and scientific meetings for trainees and Society members.

Anna Tartakovskaia
Anna has over 15 years' experience in managing conferences and exhibitions predominantly in the Association space, covering a range of different Industries. In her role at USANZ she manages the planning and delivery of the ASM; and provides advice to USANZ sections around planning and execution of their Section meetings.

Financial Management Services for USANZ are provided by Dr NIgel Finch, Managing Director of Saki Partners.

Katie Cook
Katie has a strong accounting background and runs her own business servicing both corporate and private clients. Katie has worked with USANZ since 2016, supporting the Financial Controller and other staff with a range of accounts related functions.
Katie works for the Society on a part-time capacity of approx 0.4 FTE.

Jonathon Street
Jonathon manages the Communications Team, responsible for the organisation's communications across email, social media, websites and print communications.


Jonathon has a broad range of experience working across the for-purpose, community health, and arts & culture sectors in marketing, community development, communications, and graphic design roles.

Samantha Roberts

Samantha is an experienced Marketing and Communications professional with a Master's degree in English research. As Communications Coordinator at USANZ, Sam supports the Communications Manager in developing internal and external communications, ensuring consistent messaging that aligns with the USANZ brand and organisational values. In her role, Sam supports the timely delivery of campaigns, marketing collateral and projects through various communication channels including the USANZ website, social media channels and mailings.

Danielle Provera

Danielle has a diverse work history with experience as an Executive Assistant, Workplace Trainer, and Team Leader. As the Governance Support Officer, Danielle works closely with the CEO and Governance & Secretariat Coordinator, providing administrative support and assistance on governance and policy matters.
