Educator of Merit - SET Supervisor of the Year Awarded to Dr Rick Catterwell
USANZ Member Dr Rick Catterwell has been recognised as an Educator of Merit, receiving a SET Supervisor of the Year Award.
Presented by the Academy of Surgical Educators, this award recognises the exceptional contribution of SET Supervisors who support their trainees to fulfil the goals, values, and mission of the College. The SET Supervisor of the Year is awarded in each state or territory of Australia and New Zealand, where there is an appropriate candidate nominated. The recipients of this year’s awards were announced at the Academy Forum on 3 November 2022.
The judges consider the following criteria for each candidate: their inspirational role modelling as a supervisor; their understanding and commitment to training and surgical education; involvement in training and continuing professional development; and demonstration of the College’s goals, values, and mission. Candidates must also be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or a Board accredited supervisor.
Rick has demonstrated his dedication and commitment to education and training in his roles as Chair of the South Australian Regional Training Committee; Training Supervisor, Queen Elizabeth Hospital; and Member of the Training Post Accreditation Sub-Committee.
Congratulations on this outstanding achievement!
